Linear woodlots increase wild bee abundance by providing additional food sources in an agricultural landscape

چکیده
Mid-field woodlots play an important role in maintaining biodiversity agricultural landscapes. However, it is not clear whether non-linear or linear are most beneficial for wild bee conservation. We assessed the attractiveness of two common types landscape northern Poland (non-linear and linear: 7 9 sites, respectively) terms abundance, species richness, functional diversity. Linear habitats had higher abundance bees. woodlot type did affect composition trait composition. Species responded significantly to measures syntaxonomic heterogeneity heterogeneity. Woodlot area, context (isolation heterogeneity), explained differences among vs. linear) regardless habitat type. The was due increased food availability herbaceous layer spring–summer (June) summer (July–August) periods. have potential be used as tools integrating production with conservation ecosystem services.

Native wildflower plantings support wild bee abundance and diversity in agricultural landscapes across the United States.
Global trends in pollinator-dependent crops have raised awareness of the need to support managed and wild bee populations to ensure sustainable crop production. Provision of sufficient forage resources is a key element for promoting bee populations within human impacted landscapes, particularly those in agricultural lands where demand for pollination service is high and land use and management ...
متن کاملLandscape context mediates influence of local food abundance on wetland use by wintering shorebirds in an agricultural valley
While it is widely understood that local abundance of benthic invertebrates can greatly influence the distribution and abundance of wetland birds, no studies have examined if wetland landscape context can mediate this relationship. We studied the influence of wetland food abundance and landscape context on use of agricultural wetlands by wintering dunlin (Calidris alpina) and killdeer (Charadri...

متن کاملNegative effects of pesticides on wild bee communities can be buffered by landscape context.
Wild bee communities provide underappreciated but critical agricultural pollination services. Given predicted global shortages in pollination services, managing agroecosystems to support thriving wild bee communities is, therefore, central to ensuring sustainable food production. Benefits of natural (including semi-natural) habitat for wild bee abundance and diversity on farms are well document...
